I came here for a family dinner with a group of 9...I wouldn't recommend for parties of that size. The food came out all at different times and the seating arrangement was not ideal. The food and wine was good though, with ample portions. I am vegetarian, and I ordered a greek salad which was tasty, very basic but loved the addition of grilled capsicum.I would recommend this restaurant for lunch or even perhaps a work meeting. Very basic menu and average atmosphere.

Consistency is their key to a successful business And it shows in their service and food. The food is good cafe foods and it is consistently the same time after time. The service is quick, free wifi, tv's and good outer CBD location. The place is a constitution with the same people eating every day almost 365 days a year.

Tropicana is an institution it's customer range from the rich the poor and the in between. Originally it had the grunge look going for it but some years ago it turned into a modern hot spot. However it has always had quality at an affordable price. On a recent visit two of us each had a chicken schnitzel which came with salad and sides of mashed potato and honeyed carrots. The schnitzel was tender and tasty and comprised two largish pieces of meat. We could have had creamy mushroom sauce but declined. All this for $20.70 each. There are many cheaper dishes and a good variety. This is the place you eat when you don't feel like cooking.

The Tropicana has a steady clientele - the locals keep coming back because of the broad variety of food at very reasonable prices - and service is very good. Daily newspapers are available to read whilst enjoying a coffee or having a meal.

Cash only - private ATM at door ($2.70 charge)1 teabag and small pot of hot water = $3.30Asked for toilet and was directed to it although no attempt to provide key or access at time of asking. Loathsome place!Definitely not coming back - eftpos facilities would have appeased me somewhat but the dirty toilets are unsatisfactory and a sign asking patrons to notify staff if toilets are unclean/unworking is an insult to people's intelligence. It is the businesses responsibility to maintain toilets in a reasonable condition (which they are not - dirty toilets, non operational hand dryer, no paper towel for drying hands)Really disappointed in myself for eating here because the food was as average as the service.

We went there based on its apparent popularity (plenty of customers sitting around).First thing to note is its cash only - no eftpos accepted (there is a cash machine at the door). We ordered a couple of coffees and some breakfast (omelettes etc) - $40 for two and pick up your own cutlery, condiments etc on the way to your table. It took a little while for the coffee to turn up, it was ok but definitely not great - a bit burnt. The food was pretty good, again not great but pretty good - typical coffee house fare. So for us just an average experience - not bad, not great just average. Very much like so many other coffee places around.

A classic Sydney haunt. Cafe style where you make your order at the counter and advise you location. The ceiling has numbers which assists waitresses locating you. Side orders on toast available with most meals. I always get the large Greek Salad (not really large) and it full of crisp iceberg, tomato cucumber and black olives with a few bits of feta. The insalata caprese looked generous and got a thumbs up. The specials are popular. People like the coffee - looks a bit Greek for me. This place is a classic and is well worth a visit but don't have expectations of any thing other than good canteen food with prices to match.
