We w ere staying on the Gold Coast and wanted to try something a bit more local and different than the restaurants around our hotel. We were debating about The Little Plate as the taxi ride would be about 40 AUD each way. We eventually...More

This is a surprising little restaurant for a number of reasons. The restaurant is two shop fronts separated by another business. The rooms are decorated with a calm, casual eclectic decor . The menu is quite expansive , with interesting dishes influenced from cuisines from around the world. We shared a number of small and large plates. The standout dishes for us were the ahi tuna and the lemongrass fish cakes - both delicious. This is a good relaxed local restaurant, interesting food and charming service. The owners are very friendly and pop out of the kitchen regularly to chat with the diners - nice indeed.

A very small restaurant, in fact the open kitchen is bigger than the dinning area. That's why you must book ahead. As with so many restaurants, there is a hard floor which makes a noisy acoustic which detracts from the intimacy and decor.Staff are super friendly and efficient. Service is very prompt and you are not kept waiting for meals. Now for the food. For entrees I had garlic prawns which were the best I have ever had. Not swimming in oil, but a lovely gentle sauce. Simply delicious!!. my wife had fish cakes which were very tasty and not too spicy. The mains arrived and they were very generous servings. If we had know in advance we would not have ordered entrees. my wife's prawn dish was excellent , but my steak was extremely salty. The chef who circulates among the dinners explained it was in the sauce and offered to cook another steak. I declined as I had had enough. Chef apologised and offered complimentary deserts which leveled the score. She also explained that in future ask for no salt cooking. There is no BYO and the wine is on the high price side.We will give it another go but definitely ask for no salt in the cooking.

We were told about this spot.First it was a little hard to find but we got there.Plenty street parking as well. The staff member that greeted us was Mel and she was great, she showed us to our table. The menu was great , plenty to choose from . We decided to go with the lamb shoulder that was plenty for 4 people. The wine was also well priced.Would say worth a trip to have a meal there.

On our annual visit to Burleigh we ensure we always dine at the Little Plate. The standard of fare presented by chefs Gaynor and Liv never falters. They are very welcoming and always available for a chat regarding the preparation of their food.We shared an entree of Roti with curried beans and vegetables. Our mains consisted of Atlantic salmon with mashed potatoes and miso m ayo and pepper prawns with bean shoots, green beans and rice. All courses were delicious and service friendly and efficient.A well put together wine list complimented lunch.

We always eat at Little Plate/Little Bar when in Burleigh. New dishes have been added to the menu this year, and the standard of food and presentation is incredibly high.

Booked here for a friends birthday. Amazing. Sat outside being a cool night, being a cool night we had gas heaters going. Lovely evening. Food selection was suberb , all presented beautifully. My favourite was the fish cakes with lemongrass, a really well put together dish. Also the zucchini flower as a starter , very yummy. I supplied a birthday cake which they served up for sweets. No problem. Wine list and cocktails very comprehensive. Overall a great night. Will definitely be back. Chefs and owners here really have got the right combo. Well done ! Many thanks for a enjoyable evening.
